Making music is kinda like cooking, re; Memphis Soul Stew by King Curtis.
We all use our influences, experience, memories etc. as our ingredients.
In the Bohemian Mechanics we share a great many musical influences. To list a few;
Robert Johnson, Son House, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, B B King, Albert King,
Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Chuck Berry, The Beatles , The Rolling Stones, James
Brown, Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, Booker T and the MG's, Aretha Franklin, Led Zepplin, Eric Clapton/ Derek and the Dominos, J J Cale, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, George Jones, The Allman Brothers, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Band, and let me not forget ..Jimi Hendrix. As I said , to name a few!
Both FK and FB have experience recording, engineering and producing artists and bands. So, they have special " ears" when they are " cooking". We also have many experiences playing live that are a source or ingredients for songs now and in the future, I'm sure.
Musical memories feed and supply our imaginations. Like, I'll never forget the time I saw James Brown at the Latin Casino in Cherry Hill, NJ. What I saw and heard had a profound affect on me! ( Albert Einstein said, " Imagination is more important than knowledge").
In closing, this is our "recipe" for Bohemian Mechanical Soup. We mix it up and play 'em any way we choose!
PS - Almost and can't forget ; Miles Davis , Hank Williams sr., Jimmy Reed, J S Bach, the Funk Brothers and the Muscle Shoals Swampers.
PPS - Never forget -" You Don't Wanna' Let The Ghosts Down" -
