The Bohemian Mechanics are Joe DiBartolo - lead vocals and guitar, Frank Barbera bass and vocals , Frank Kozak - electric guitar. Jim Litzinger/ Bill Trulock - drums
The group performs an eclectic mix of interpretive covers and original material that draws from blues, soul, country and rock&roll described as "Jersey Americana”
Having performed as JD and the Ravens (1995-2001} and BluesBox / Bluesbox Delux, (2007-2012) in December of 2013, they changed to an acoustic/electric trio format, without drums. While going nameless for almost a year they rehearsed and recorded, inspired by the idea of a free unpretentious artistic and musical association, drawing upon all their influences, to create their own unique sound.
In January 2014 they became The Bohemian Mechanics. After playing for about a year and a half as a trio, in 2016, they brought back not one, but two drummers!
Along with JD's solo 2002 release “Before the Nite Is Thru” and the Bluesbox 2005 CD “Boxing Day”, The Bohemian Mechanics have released 2 albums, “500 Pound Umbrella in"2017, and “Are We Having Fun Yet” in 2018. All 4 are available around the world in CD, digital download and streaming format on CD Baby, Itunes, Pandora Radio, Spotify, Apple Music Radio, Amazon Music and YouTube in addition to many other online retailers and radio stations. The Bohemian Mechanics are a self contained music and video production unit with all video and audio recordings engineered, mixed and produced in their own studio.
All five “ Bohemian Mechanics” have over 200+ years of performing and playing experience both live and in the recording studio together and individually. The band is a hybrid unit that can perform as a duet, trio, 4, 5 piece and more. Their live shows are particularly engaging in that they hearken back to the days of truly heartfelt soulful performance , reflected in their unique arrangements and innovative musicianship that draws a nice mix of educated and engaged fans that often includes other professional musicians!
